Seems To Have Slipped My Mind

Things had been so hectic for him in work recently, he just didn’t realise the time and when he caught a glimpse of the date on the newspaper his heart began to race as the realization dawned on him that he had forgotten something special.

How could he have forgotten to write for 55fiction?

If I didn’t know you were a guy, you could blame it on mom-brain. That’s the excuse I always use. :)

I think I’ll just blame it on the stress of a non-stop workload.

    Just like being a mom/mum ;-)

    Very nice post Alan :)

I know I’d either forget or won’t have any half-decent story on the days i’m supposed to write, thats why I write and schedule the posts as and when I have some stories.

I think I’ll try that in future Maruthi, just take a couple of hours some day and bang through a few 55fictions to have them set up and waiting and avoid the panic I had when I realised it was Wednesday and not Tuesday this week and I hadn’t written anything!

Brilliant! From now on, I have mum-brain. Sounds much more serious, and a different ailment from all of those other moms in the park. Now, if I can just get it said with the right accent. We Americans are soooo good at sounding like Brits. :)

Sorry, Alan. Cory has just informed me that you are not, in fact, a Brit. Rather, an upstanding Irishman. My apologies. I’m still using the mum-brain thing, though. :)

Confusing though it is both you and Cory are right. As Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom we are British citizens. As we’ve been divided on constitutional grounds for so long, Northern Irish people also have the option to carry an Irish passport so we are in effect both British and Irish hence our local difficulties.

Personally I prefer Northern Irish than British or Irish but I won’t argue if I get called any of the three.

Hope that clears it up ;-)

Thanks for clarifying that. Anytime we can both be right is win-win. Though not as good as when I can just be right. (Kidding) I am pretty ignorant of the history of your neck of the woods. Hope that didn’t leave you with an identity crisis for the day.

When you’ve been born in one country same as your parents and can claim to be three different nationalities every day of the year, you can understand why we all have a permanent identity crisis.

Here endeth the brief lesson about Northern Ireland, constitutional disputes and history ;-)
