Bradford was getting a lot of funny looks. More than usual. Being a bit awkward, he was accustomed to regular second glances, but today was different. Glances became stares, and snickers.
What was causing this strange behaviour? Perhaps it had something to do with the sandwich board around Bradford’s neck:

Weakened but alive, Brazzk entered the blue planet, looking for a suitable being to nurture him. He found a creature whose biology was hospitable to his needs. He planned to be a symbiont only for a short time.
Unfortunately, the duck was sick and could not tolerate hosting him. Brazzk barely escaped with his life.

Her head throbs with each beat of her heart. Lightning shoots across through her temples and down her spine. Pain isn’t new to her, but the fact that the pills have done nothing to numb her is. Her eyes are dry. Every tear has already been pushed out. She awaits the dawn that never comes.

Brazzk flew his ship through the planet’s thick clouds, searching for the secret landing pad hidden on the Maxwell Montes.
Gwarsl trained his megaton rocket gun on the unsuspecting craft. Trails of smoke followed the rocket on its way to its target.
The injured spaceship wavered then dropped seven miles to the hot valley floor.
The clock ticked over to 5:30 as we pulled out of the driveway. Two quick stops and we’d be on the highway headed across the country.
We filled up the gas tank, and turned down the block toward an ATM. From the back a tired voice asked, “Um, Dad, are we almost there yet?”
When Simon left, Samuel was torn between rejoicing and grieving; his brother was, after all, his best mate. They did everything together. What Simon did, Samuel followed suit. He was his hero.
Now, it feels like he’s breathing easily. He can finally step out of his brother’s shadow and know who he truly is.

So much work, so much physical work, carrying the materials to build their dream home, raising a family, feeding them and protecting them from those who would do them harm and it was all for nothing.
The homeowners had blocked up their entry to the nest this year again.
Their house was not their home.
