Under the Influence

Continuing our block of reader submissions, let’s introduce Brian Behr Valentine. Here is the first of two from Brian.

“The guy in the car wreck died under the knife!”

“Was he drunk?”

“Yes!”

“How drunk?”

“To drunk to operate…”

“Shhhh! Quiet! Step over here. It’s none of our business really!”

“It is to!”

“We’re just nurses!”

“I am going up front with it!”

“They’ll fire you, not him!”

“An alcoholic surgeon must be reported!”

I believe the word “to” in the fifth line “To drunk to operate…” should be “Too” (an adverb indicating degree)
This line is important to the story as it is the first time we see that it is the doctor (the double meaning of the word operate) that is drunk, not the driver as we have been led to believe. Little errors detract from good work.
Good story. I liked it very much!
