Four girls sat on the merry-go-round playing a clapping game, while a group of boys played football in the field nearby. They were unaware that one had blond curls, another a sandy brown bob, and the last two neatly braided corn rows.

Luke froze in mid sentence, stunned by the sound wafting in from the den. Suddenly with life-or-death purpose he dashed away chattering at the top of his lungs, hands moving up and down in an unsteady rhythm. Rounding the corner, he looked, and squealed with joy. The Wiggles were indeed singing “Hot Potato.”

Mr. Oakley snored in his recliner, feet up, undisturbed by the drone of the football game in the background. A few uneaten cookie crumbs had settled into his sweater. Underneath the knitted wool uncounted calories struggled to work their way through his system.

She stepped through the doorway and into her own time. All seemed normal.
Out on the road, she stopped a man riding by. He pulled his horse short, got off, and quickly lowered his eyes. “Yes, ma’am.”
“Which way to Jamestown?”
“Beg your pardon, ma’am. I’ve not heard of Jamestown. The closest settlement is Anneborough.”

One by one, they came, slowly and stiffly. Different species in different colors were united in a common purpose. They formed a circle around the food.
Joe tried to move them, six dinosaurs gathered around a slice of bread. But their master would have none of it.
“No, daddy. They’re eating,” said their 2-year-old owner.
