Brazzk flew his ship through the planet’s thick clouds, searching for the secret landing pad hidden on the Maxwell Montes.
Gwarsl trained his megaton rocket gun on the unsuspecting craft. Trails of smoke followed the rocket on its way to its target.
The injured spaceship wavered then dropped seven miles to the hot valley floor.

The planet’s gray dust hung suspended in the airless atmosphere. Gwarsl maneuvered his ship to avoid the mountains, keeping in their shadow. He saw the other craft hover and knew he was being watched.
He growled his impatience. The other ship resumed its course.
Gwarsl returned to his patrol, sure that his day would come

The spacecraft drew closer to the sun as Brazzk toggled the controls. The ship’s panels extended, waiting.
A solar flare erupted from the surface, reaching around and beyond the spaceship. Brazzk screamed from the heat.
The flames withdrew as quickly as they came. Relieved, Brazzk piloted the recharged ship out into the cold dark void.
