Alex hurtled through the corridor. He could hear the dogs behind him. He dashed around a corner. He saw a door on his left. It was unlocked.

Inside, he tried to catch his breath. There was silence.

Then a knock. An old woman with a red-tipped cane slowly made her way to the door.
